Tough game to watch. Had the feeling when the Bruins scored the first goal that it was over. I'm sure the players had a brief, similar, bad thought. That is what happens when you are slumping and pressing.
This team works hard and with a few bounces tonight played well enough to win. Maybe Campoli's goal and the flurries thereafter will get things moving. I just wish we had that one player who could be relied upon to take control once in a while and dominate a shift/ period/ game. Those are the guys that can will your out of a slump. We don't have anyone who comes close.
We are what we are: 2 3rd lines and 2 4th lines that will have to scrape and claw for every win.
Let's hope the road treats us well.

Great post, I agree.
We need ONE real player who we can depend on, who we know that when we are down, pass it to him, or he will set something up. that one player would fill this gaping hole in the isles' offense.

Nothing wrong with having Sutton. Every team could use one big bruising D-man like him. He made a mistake tonight like all dmen do once in a while.

Its the offense - or lack of - that's killing us. It magnifies every error on D.

I'm honestly not sure which is worse. Watching it or reading about it. I guess I will find out Saturday in Tampa.

I can't believe we're flying to Florida to see 2 games. I'm just hoping that being away from home for an extended period of time will snap them out of whatever funk they are in...

One more thing. Fischler and Trautwig pointed out the other night that Dipietro is going down too early and tonight it was clear as day to me. He is going to the ice and other teams are starting to shoot high. That is a potential problem that someone on the Isles coaching staff needs to get ahold of or it could cause real trouble.

Some of thes eguys have to be 20 and 30 G-scorers. If you think our current lineup has enough of those type of players, then I can understand your optimism. But looking at this lineup and the last few games, I just don't see enough G's and W's.
OK, The Committe is not a failure w/ regards to their long term plan, but short term, this isn't working out. Hopefully the next few yrs will bring help form the outside (good trades and FA's) and help from the inside (aquiring and developing quality talent) BUt don't expect too much this yr. is all I'm saying.

I WAS expecting a good year. I thought NOlan could make these players into a competitive team. But the reality is what it is. You all saw it for yourselves.

The year is not over. Lots of hockey left to play.

I'm going to do you one better and predict that the Islanders will win 3 of their next 4 games. Just a hunch.
