I keep him. He is exactly what you want a young team to learn from, and I make sure I bring up some youth for him to teach.

love his game. great leadership, passion, and grit. Make him the next captain and sign him for 4 years. he should help our prospects grow too. The question is, will he come back?

If he walks away, i just want to say its been a pleasure watching this guy go to war for the islanders. I've admired him from afar for a while, and seeing him put on an islander jersey was a thrill for me. he's everything we've been lacking. Leader, heart and soul, gives everything he had. He could have been pissed edmonton traded him and half asses it here, but thats just not Ryan Smyth. While our captain went through the motions the past 5 games, this guy did everything he could to make this team better, will this team to win. He gave everything he had the time he was here, and i thank him for that. He's exactly the type of player nolan and snow want this team to be and be about. I hope we do everyhting humanly possbile and then some to ensure he remains here.

Thank You Ryan Smyth for showing Islander Country what a true professional, leader and class act is. I hope you're here for years to come.

i don't know if u guys saw his interview on msg after the game but he looked and sounded utterly disgusted...i don't think he will sign here...especially if the isles don't cut ties with Yashin...

Actually, I took a positive spin on that interview. If he wanted to simply sail off into the sunset, he could have declined the interview or just made some bland remarks.

absolute first prirority is to do what it takes to make this guy happy.... The heart and soul we have been missing for some years, but Wang's loyalty to Yash could be a HUGE issue here.....

Agree with just about everything postive said about Ryan so far. Ryan brings creditability to this franchise, end of story. That said, I don't have a good feeling about him re-siging.

I just watched the interview and I got a stiffy.

Talk about a leader I have never seen (I was born in '83) in the Isles organization. It says a lot that he's calling out guys and he's been on the Island for 2 months. Teddy's role is to be a motivator, for guys like Smyth, it's to be a voice in the locker room. I was intially thrilled after the trade for Smyth, but my excitement went down with his lack of numerical production. I hate that he will probably leave for O'Marra, Nilsson, and our 1st. He has struggled in the Eastern Conference, IMO. If Snow and Wang can sign this guy, we will firmly entrenched as a Cup contender. Mark my words.

Sign him, give him the "C."

We haven't had a leader like him here since Flatley IMO.
