Signs with Locomotiv Yaroslavl for one year:

Probably the best thing he could've done for himself. Go home, be one of the best players in the league, get his confidence back, regroup and get back to the NHL next year.

Might as well have signed with Siberia.

Or, go back, find out his lack of speed is problematic in Russia, as well, and slowly fade into oblivion...

I'm very happy with this. None of us wanted to seem him rack up points for another NHL club while pocketing Wang's millions.

I don't think you'll ever see him back in North America again... Good Riddance... What a disaster!

Yash will sign with someone for $3.5M per season. I guarantee it.

Problem is he is looking likely in the $5M area.

Teams try to use it against him that he was bought out, but in the end, the law of supply and demand will kick back in, and he will end up getting about $3.5M per season somewhere. Likely Washington or Detroit.

Where are you Gaza? Jus bustin' chops man, but you really put yourself out there with this one.

I'm not sure if this is a good career move by Yash. Financially yes, it's better. BUT even if he does well, which he probably will, especially considering the age & talent level of most of the players...how does this move bolster his image as a non-worker on the NHL level?

The only strategy is he takes a year to move away from the "buy-out"...this REALLY killed what was a poor rep to begin with. I could see if the Isles were in cost cutting mode, but this move wasn't a financially motivated. Even w/the Cap his salary wasn't keeping the Isles from bringing in other players...at least financially.

IMHO, I THINK better offers would have come as the off season wore on. But what do I know? I DO know that NHL teams didn't want to parade Yashin in like a "key" acquisition. Which is usually what July is all about. He's the cream of the crop of the remaining FA's! Honestly, his talent cannot overcome a buy-out & a poor reputation. I have to honest though, IF I was in need, Yash at 3 million is NOT a disaster, not a financial one at least...that's where his reputation KILLS him, nobody wants to take him.

I have to say if he was getting only million dollar offers that's pretty sad, he's worth more than that....

This signing tells me all I need to know about him, he's all about the money period end of story. Yashin should have accepted a one year deal for a reasonable amount, tried to put up some points rebuild his rep and then look for muti year deal next year. This type of player needs to be signed to a 1 or 2 year deal max to keep him motivated because winning championships means nothing to him. I am so glad we are rid of this "player"

With the way that Russia is "locking up" their prospects now, Yashin might not ever get a chance to leave again. Does anybody else wonder if Carol Alt is going with him, or is she trading him in for younger model! Sorry, had to make a bad joke. But really, this is a disaster of a career move, should of atleast went to Europe. I guess we can officially state "The Isles fans have sent him off to Siberia".
