in NYC, I am a big fan of Bar Americain, which is Bobby Flay's new place. Excellent dinner and also been there for brunch.

on LI,

West End Cafe is excellent.

Cajun-wise:

Big Daddy's in my hometown of Massapequa, who also does BBQ now. The Bayou in Bellmore is also great. These two cajun restaurants might be the best on the East coast.

Italian:

I've always loved Buteras.

Comfort food:

Grillfire in Rockville Centre

Seafood:

Coolfish inSyosset.

Wings:

Still looking for the best wing.

I usually go to a different steakhouse every two weeks. Sparks and Wolfgang's are probably the best I've been to in Manhattan. Ben & Jack's and Uncle Jack's are pretty good, too. Peter Luger's in Brooklyn is probably still the best if you can get in.

I don't like Il Mulino. Crowded, expensive, slow and overrated. Food was no better than mediocre. Tao is good and One if by Land is supposed to be gorgeous.

Bayou is a very good place, I agree and Im not a huge cajun guy. My aunt lives right up the block so we go there a lot when I visit.

Wolfgang's a tremendously underrated. Meanwhile the meat purveyor is the person that put Lugers on the map over the years. Good call. Del Friscos is also good.

I like Uncle Jacks, but they can be hit or miss. I really like their BBQ sauce cooked Pork chop.

On LI, if you look for a very underrated steak joint, try Jimmy Hays in Island Park. Outstanding.

Majors, wich I believe used to me Generosity's back in the day is a real nice reasonably priced Steak House just minutes from the NVMC.

So I missed the Islander -Ranger game last night because of our anniversary. Looks like I missed a snoozer...

Anyhoo, we went to this place called on E 4th str between 1st and 2nd Aves and had an amazing culinary experience. We went for the six-course tasting menu, which at $45, was a bargain.

One of the entrees that I had a question about was the duck breast which was served RARE! I could hardly cut it with the knife that was provided...My wife and I looked at each other fearing the worst and ate the "undercooked" bird. The thought of "salmonella poisoning" went through my head but as of right now am suffering no ill effects.

After doing some research it appears that duck is not as susceptible to salmonella as chicken because of the cleanliness of the animal? Do any of our chefs know for sure?

As for the quantity, huge plates and "small" portions had my wife and I wondering where we'd be eating afterwards but by the end of the night we were stuffed.

The courses(I'm sure there are much fancier names for them ...but you get the gist):

1. What looked like sushi
2.butter nut squash- ish appetizer with white cheese(mole?)
3.Chicken slices in truffle/pear puree
4.Donald(not Trump)
5.Sea bass with potattes and vaiety of mushrooms in an amazingly rich mushroom sauce
6.Ginger creme brulee

An amazing, romantic experience that I'll be revisiting very soon.Check it out.
