And speaking of surprises, how about the fact that Nolan imprisoned captain Alexei Yashin on the fourth line, giving him a mere 7:07 of ice time. This is a move that could have long-term implications, but more on that later. Stan should know better than to tease us and leave us hanging. It'll just be a follow up article on how Nolan is making it clear he doesnt want Yash, giving Snow something to take to Wang for a buyout. We see right through you, Stan. |

Everyone and their mother should know by know that Nolan is not "in love" with Yashin. I am however sick of all these writers saying it but not really saying it. "Thats a story for later" said Logan, said Fischler, said umpteen other writers. Why not just write the damn story on it. Go ahead and write 3 pages and please, cite all the reasons why, break it down real good for us, because we are all fricking blind. Have some balls journalists and go ahead and smear Yashin and show us all why he should be bought out. Hell, at least put it in writing, the same thing that us mere fans have been saying for 3 years now, get it on paper and put it out to the public nationwide. Force the damn issue, do us all a favor. |

Now may very well not be the time, but for once I would like one of these guys to put up or shut up. I understand that it is not the time as far as importance or team chemistry during a playoff run. |

Here's why the Islanders think Ted Nolan should be coach of the year: Instead of crazily leaping on to the ice following his club's Shootout victory and securing a playoff spot, the Isles coach |

ISLES IRED The easy analysis of the Islanders third game loss to Buffalo last night is simply to blame the referees for whistling a bad game; which they did. No question. Nevertheless, Ted Nolan’s sextet have to accept as much blame. Their power play was powerless when it could have put the Isles back in the game and key skaters were not playing up to the necessary standard before a sellout crowd that was virtually pleading for a win. Fans can beef until the cows come home about Tom Vanek’s disputed goal but on the out-of-town feed, it was clear that the puck cleared the goal line. And let’s face it, Rick DiPietro did NOT handle the wraparound in ideal fashion, setting up the opportunity for the Sabres ace to squeeze the puck through. Trailing by only a goal in the third, the Isles faded more than glowed. Buffalo simply was the better team on the night and, once again, Alexei Yashin inadvertently indicated why he will not be an Islander next season; not if Nolan is coaching. The result could be different on Wednesday but it will require better goaltending by DiPietro; plus his mates scoring the first goal. Otherwise, the series is over. |

Stan, post the "clearly over the line video" so everyone can see it. I still have yet to see an angle that was conclusive. No more than the Isles goal that was disallowed by the NHL against your beloved Rags. And while DiPi did not have his best game, he is the only reason the game stayed as close as it was. There were no softies and there was some stellar stops too. The Isles proved they can play with the Sabres, now they have to find a way of beating them tomorrow |

YASHIN CASH-IN Unless Alexei Yashin enjoys a complete metamorphosis in the next few games and becomes a STAR again, he will fade from the Islanders' scene forever. Ted Nolan will be the Isles leader next year and there's really no room left for Yashin on Ted's team. How Garth Snow eases the captain's exit is really the only question to be answered whether it's via buy-out or -- if it's possible -- a trade. |

Well I would love a trade but I don't see any team stupid enough to trade for him and take on his salary. In the NHL forum I posted Yashin sent down and recalled and Washington takes him off waivers. This way Isles pay half and Wash pays half. No way they send us their first rd pick but I'll take a 2nd or 3rd pick and maybe a salary dump from them to get rid of Yashin |
