Man, so we have to wait until at least 2009-10 before we get to see him in Long Island? He's a goal scorer; something that we need very much. He's also proven he can set goals up.
He's clutch too; he scored 4 goals in 4 games during the playoffs last year.

League: USHL
Acquired: Islanders 2007 third-round draft pick (76th overall)
Stats to date: Games Played (20), Goals (9), Assists (16), Points (25), PIM (19)

Update: Gregoire recorded a power play goal in Lincoln's 7-5 loss to Chicago on Friday. He followed that up with a power play assist in Lincoln's 3-2 win over Omaha the next night.

What the scouts are saying: "The first thing that stands out is that Jason has a presence on the ice. He doesn't get rattled and looks likes he's been there. He's a strong kid and strong over the puck. Jason doesn't lose many one on one battles. His work habits are really good. I watched him in practice one day to get a feel for what he's like not in a game situation. He's pretty much the same. He's serious about his game and a focused kid. Off the ice, Jason is a real genuine kid. It was nice to be around a humble kid. He's kind of like sniper waiting in the wings. He has a very good shot, with a quick release. At the Junior level he is used in every situation. He's not afraid to sacrifice the body and block shot."

USHL: Q&A with Jason Gregoire

here are the Isles related parts

New York Islanders prospect, left-winger Jason Gregoire, has picked up in 2007-08 where he left off last season, averaging over a point-per-game with the Lincoln Stars of the United States Hockey League. The 2007 third-round pick overcame an ankle problem that nearly ended his career in 2006 and he has established himself as a player who takes pride in his two-way play and being a leader. McKeen's recently had the opportunity to talk with Gregoire, who discusses his career-threatening ankle injury, going the collegiate route, committing to the University of North Dakota, being drafted by the Islanders, and a couple of top prospects he's played with or against.

McKeen's: What are some of the things you are looking to improve upon, that either Lincoln wants you to work on, or UND, or even the Islanders?

Gregoire: There is no doubt that in the game of hockey, it's getting to be a faster game, less clutch and grab. That's the biggest thing. You've got to be quick. Your footwork has just got to be bang, bang, bang. It's not how fast you can get end to end
