I just wanted to mention that I read somewhere that Smyth really wants to play with Comrie again (I think it was on TSN).

Maybe Snow has his hands full trying to sign them BOTH at the same time?

that has been in the back of my mind all day and basically what I'm hoping for at this point. Smyth is good friends with Sillinger and Bergeron, adding Comrie to the mix has to entice Smyth at least a little more to come here and that might be all it takes, a little more. Then if the Isles go into tomorrow with a re-signed Smyth and Comrie, it's a good first day.

Here's a subject to ponder:

I don't think the Isles have given out a "no movement clause" yet in the modern era..what players that are free agents right now would you give one to? None?

I'd give one to Smyth...Hey, at least we wouldn't have to worry aboot trading another Captain for a few years.

Drury is another one, since he'd also likely be named Captain, were we to aquire him.

Other than that...? I don't know if I'd give one to Hannan...depends on the contract details ($$ + term).

No Movement clauses are an atrocious idea especially with a guy on the tail end of his career. Only the Crosby's, Thorntons, and Lecavalier's of the world should get them if anyone at all. Not Smyth.

I am ok with what has happened.
8 years for Briere?
10 million in Year 1?

What happened if he were to take a hack on the wrist from Witt in Game 32?
That's 20% of your cash for 1 dude.
Isles have to be smart...we need lots more than just 1 guy.
We need to balance our budget...in the parlance of our times, man.

BTW: I dig the new screen name Boogley Woogley...and the new avatar too, getting in line with the new big day. Just had to escape to the garage to beat this Texas heat.

Smyth, Comrie, Hannan, Peca...not to shabby, and a legit playoff team NO DOUBT, IMHO.

Best part is, this scenario is STLL in play.

"5:04 Smyth to the Avs "very" close. Sabres "not dead" on Drury. LA is leading the way for Drury..San Jose looking at Blake and Walz"
