Don't you know? The Leafs along with the Rags will target and sign everyone. The league should shut down and have the Leafs and Rags play one another 82 times.

Now these jackoff writers up north are talking about the Leafs signing Kariya also. Like I said on my earlier post, if it was up to the Rag and Leaf writers, these two organizations would sign everyone. The cap shouldn't apply to either team. Also according to these writers every player would be honored to don the Rag and Leaf jersey's so the players should and would take less money signing with either organization.

A look at the top free-agent forwards
Burnside

By Scott Burnside

Jason Blake
Like Smyth, Blake will be pursued by teams looking for a veteran with a fearless streak and a nose for the net. After putting up career numbers with the Islanders last season (40 goals, 69 points), the 33-year-old Blake will be looking for a big payout relative to the $1.6 million he earned last season. Something in the neighborhood of three times that will likely be the asking price. Toronto, which might not have enough oomph to attract the big boys on the market, might settle for Blake, who would be a nice fit on the wing with Sundin. Minnesota, meanwhile, is always interested in a little homegrown talent (Blake is from Moorehead).

USA TODAY hockey writer Kevin Allen offers his review of the top 25 NHL unrestricted free agents available starting July 1 at noon, ET.

16. Wing Jason Blake: He's the greyhound of this dog show, with exceptional skating ability and a 40-goal season now on his resume. He's a relentless forechecker. He's never had a big-time lucrative deal, and he will be looking for it this time.

Age: 33. 2006-07 salary: $1.5 million. Projection: $4-4-25 million.

Ranger fan..(duh!)

Jason Blake, LW - NY Islanders current salary: $1,550,000 per season

This little fuc%er was a Ranger Nemesis this past season, unexpected team player that played the net and a surprising wrist-shot. He was consistent, confident and a solid player who always took advantage of the Blueshirts defensive weakness every match. A sixth sense. Hate him. Hate him. Hate him. Jason Blake may become a Ranger in a couple of days, and this one would be tough to swallow. If you met him in a bar, he has - what my wife refers to as - 'push-face', meaning you just look at him and want to do exactly that, but....the consequences would be great. Other than that, he is a damn good hockey player.

Prediction: Jason Blake will command $5 million a year for a 3-year contract in either NY or Minnesota. The Islanders cannot keep him because he wants to be recognized as a world-class hockey player. No chance for that playing for a secondary NY hockey franchise. Sorry Ted.

This is a sample that I care about -- others might care about another Anson Carter trade, but here in Ranger Land we are a happy bunch coming off a good entry NHL first-round pick and a damn-good season -- which will be attractive to some of those hockey players looking for a world-class hockey organization, a world-class metropolitan and the best damn venue anyone could dream of playing for.

Rangers! The King Will Return. Potvin sucks! Amen.

tdr

world-class hockey organization (that sexually harrasses woman),
a world-class metropolitan
and the best damn venue anyone could dream of playing for. I haven't been to MSG in a while but it is far from World Class

Sure, the writer's a jerk, but I can definitely see the Rangers getting Blake. That Ranger fans hate him so much says all you need to know about Blake, and should silence his detractors here permanently.

I'll be honest, I would love to see Witt lay Blake out in center ice with Jason wearing a Ranger Jersey. And if Blake ever did sign with the Rangers, which he won't, but if he did, I bet a lot of people here who like him will suddenly find faults in his game.

just give him his 3.8 over 4 years which is apparently what he was asking for a few mnths back

he's one of the fastest guys in the league for his age and certainly 4 years from now he will still have his mojo

there has to be some continuity with this roster.

Seeing Blake getting laid out center ice in Rags' rags would be refreshing.
